Consorzio di Bioingegneria e Informatica Medica

The Consorzio di Bioingegneria e Informatica Medica (CBIM) is a nonprofit research Organization promoting and developing IT leading edge applications in healthcare sector.
Founded in 1992 by the University of Pavia and other Research and Clinical Institutions, CBIM is presently involved in several projects at national and international level, cooperating with more than 120 partners (Research institutions, Public bodies, Healthcare Management Entities). Most important customers can be considered: Italian Ministry of Health, Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Board Management authorities of Regione Lombardia, Sardegna, Sicilia and Italian Research Institutes.
CBIM mission is to:

  1. design and develop Hospital Information Systems
  2. provide e-procurement solutions for purchasing in Public Health
  3. provide IT solution for food safety management
  4. carry on innovative telemedicine projects based on web-based architecture
  5. define and implement organizational models to improve biomedical device management
  6. promote training, education and e-learning activities in healthcare sector


Relevant projects in Healthcare: Neurological Portal for the National Network of excellence in neurology; Telepathology service for the Italian Cancer Network of excellence; Inter Regional Migraine Network; Regional Parkinson Network; EUROHEAD- Migraine genes and neurobiological pathways - VI FP; HOMEY-HOME monitoring through intelligent dialogue system, V FP; M2DM - Multi Access Services for Telematic Management of Diabetes Mellitus IV FP; COMOESTAS - VII FP; ICT Call, Challenge 5 - Collaboration with Latin American Countries.

CBIM is certified UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 compliant for consultancy services, training events, and for software design and development. CBIM is also member of Italian HL7 Association.
